Hello boyz and girlz!!
Finally made it out on an epic fishing trip with ymin72, LAsmoker, everm.
As you have seen this year, I've been on many, many, many fishing trips and I have never experienced a ling hunt like this!
So...here's the report.
4:30am alarm clock goes off.
4:31am slipped into a dream of me getting onto the boat...
6:00am Mike blowing up my phone wakes me from my dream and in a panic I get ready and shoot out the door.
6:35am make it to the landing to find that I made there before Bob and Mike!! Didn't even speed...sorta...
7:00am Bob is rushing to get onto the boat....
7:05am WE'RE OFF!!
(Unfortunately, from this point I stopped looking at my watch...so I have no idea of a time line)
First stop, we spent about 2-hours making bait...target species: SAND DAB!
Mike got greedy and made a 5-hook ganion on a rod that isn't stiff enough, so every time he'd hook up 5, you'd think he was pulling in a 40lb halibut!!

Bob was quiet for most of the morning....scary. But he was tired and he still fished with all of us (when he wasn't tangled up with someone else).

And the new guy, EverM! Thanks for joining us! I hope you had fun. Sorry it was such a small crew and we didn't really have a chance to all sit around and shoot the sh--.

So the day continued on with us moving on to the ling grounds.
What happens from this point on is EPIC! Although me, Mike and EverM didn't get lucky enough to experience it, BOB DID!!
Hooked up...

Over the shoulder shot....

Bob discovering the function of the "2-speed"...
After about 2 minutes of him panting and winding, I tell him "Hey Bob, put it in second gear!" His response "Oh yeah...I forgot!" Click. "Dude this is so easy!!" Too bad you didn't figure that out 2 minutes ago, eh Bob?

Still waiting for it....

BOO YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

So, Capt. Morgan (of the Icon), how much does this gator weigh?
http://tsuribaka.us/photos/20071117/HPIM0759.jpg
See the scale?
http://tsuribaka.us/photos/20071117/HPIM0760.jpg
At the end, 18 lings were caught.
None for me, Mike and EverM. But epic none the less.
The Young's Tackle crew that happened to be on the boat with us did well too. Robin (of Young's Tackle) told me that they also frequently arrange for outings on a regular basis and not just long range. Cool!
The result.

Bob's 15-minutes...
http://tsuribaka.us/photos/20071117/HPIM0771.jpg
So it was someone's bright idea to suggest to Bob, "Hey! Gotta eat the heart!!" I don't know how it somehow ended up being the liver...but it didn't stop Bob...

Here's the Victory on their way home. We showed them Bob's (REAL) Ling-a-saurus to them, they had nothing to show us...sorry George. We just had a better day.

The JP winner...yeah...you guessed it. BOB!!
Although it says $5 off, on the back it's a free pass hand-written by Capt. Morgan.

The end result of 1/2 of Bob's ling.
